George is driving his mentally disabled brother back to the institution. Unbeknownst to him, there is a dead body of a young boy in the road. George gets distracted driving and hits the dead boy. Thinking he has killed the boy, he tries to cover his tracks. The cops arrive. Not knowing he is innocent of a crime he did not in fact did not commit, his erratic behavior makes the cops very suspicious. Tensions rise and guns get drawn. Set in Turkey but shot in the filmmaker’s Los Angeles apartment, Lurie’s dramatic and compelling piece brings much needed attention to what has become an urgent and global human rights issue. Writer/director Tanja Mairitsch produced commercials in her native Austria before coming to America to attend film school at UCLA and the American Film Institute. The film won a Director’s Guild of America Award and stars Amy Moon and Darrow Igus.

The award winning animation is directed and written by NYU film graduate Marco Besas. The style of the film is an affectionate tribute to the work of Tim Burton and is based on a Spanish folk tale. Narrated by Sancho Gracia.

There is a thin line between genius and madness. Pioneering animator Ryan Larkin produced some of the most influential animated films of his time, yet now he fights an alcohol problem. Reduced to begging on the downtown streets in Montreal, he is now an artist who is no longer able to create. The 2005 Academy Award winning short combines breathtaking and surrealist animation with the documentary form to create a one of a kind film. Director Chris Landreth went into animation as a second career after a stint as an engineer with a master’s degree in theoretical and applied mechanics.
