Episode 103: Sweets For My Sweet
Jacques helps his daughter Claudine relinquish her fear of making pastry with his easy Tartelettes Aux Fruit Panaches. She goes on to assist her father in the kitchen as he makes his variation of the very traditional French, Tarte Tatin. Jacques then shares his mother’s recipe for Mémé’s Apple Tart using an unusual method to make the pastry. Finally his granddaughter Shorey joins him to make and taste Individual Chocolate Nut Pies.

Love this episode!
Ditto! Jacques’ adoration of his granddaughter is just too precious! Shorey is a precocious, wonderful chef, just like her grandfather.
this episode was a revelation! never refrigerating my doughs again.. now I can have pie whenever I want 😀
Can you please give me the quantities of the ingredients for Meme’s apple tart? Thank you very much! Can’t wait to try it!

Hi Noela-
All recipes not featured on the website can be found in my book – Essential Pepin. Happy Cooking!

I think you could give us this recipe for Meme’s tart dough for gratis? Non? We already have several of your cookbooks. In light of today’s economy couldn’t you help us out to make this tart without having to spend money? Merci beaucoup. We love you Jacques and your family too.
Deborah,
Thank you so much for your note. As the producer of the series I wanted to explain that the publishers give us permission to reprint and share a limited number of recipes. Unfortunately it doesn’t include Meme’s Apple Tart. I’m so sorry that we can’t help you with this,
Tina
My library has copies of most of Jacques Pepin’s books, so people can read them for free, or try them before they buy them.
Thanks to Jacques and his producers for the many years of happy cooking and steadfast support for public broadcasting.

Thank You Stephanino!
Monsieur Pepin,
Nathalie Cunningham
I made the Meme Tart for Thanksgiving with lard I made myself last year. It was the most delicious thing on the table (of many good things!). Fabulous, easy crust.
Thank you Jacques, every time I watch you cook I learn something new. You have been a great inspiration to me, and have been important in the big jump of cooking without a recipe. I am very grateful.

This episode is great because it reminds us that Jacques always says that cooking is an act of love from one person to another. Claudine is an old and familiar foil for her dad, but watching Shorry with her grandfather is just too precious and cute to watch. Well done Monsieur Pepin!
I have made Meme’s apple tart several times and my family loved it. It is quick and not to sweet which is what I like about it. I will surely make it again and again. Thanks Jacques.
Jacques – I’ve watched you for years and have always loved you and your recipes. But seeing you with Shorey made me love you even more, if that’s possible. Meme’s Apple Tart is delicious!
I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR GRAND DAUGHTER ON ALL THE TIME. SHE MAKES THE SHOW, JUST ADORABLE!!!
