Join KQED for a special evening including a sneak peek of the landmark series Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting Edge of Recorded Music produced by Show of Force and Higher Ground in association with the late Beatles’ producer Sir George Martin. This eight-episode series features interviews with over 150 artists, including Tom Petty, Adele, Michael Jackson, and Elton John. It offers a behind-the-board glimpse at several of the most iconic recordings in modern music history.
After the screening we will be joined by award-winning producer Jeff Dupre, and Grammy- nominated singer-songwriter, record producer Linda Perry and musician Matt Nathanson for an intimate discussion about the music industry and the stories behind the sounds moderated by KQED arts editor Gabe Meline.
Jeff Dupre’s documentaries have been released around the world and aired on HBO, PBS, and the BBC. Linda Perry has produced hit songs for artists such as Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and P!nk.
The night will close with a live musical performance by Andrew St. James.
