After what has felt like an eternal renovation, today marks the much-anticipated return of Dolores Park's north side! Since early 2014, you've probably walked by the fenced-off area and wondered, What exactly are they doing over there? Thanks to my coworker Robert Chehoski, who created a time-lapse of the revamp using photos he took from his apartment, we now get a front row seat to witness the $8 million transformation (and some pretty impressive cloud formations and rainbows too).

What started as a casual hobby became something more for Chehoski. "After the first few months, I became completely obsessed. Sometimes I’d rush home just to get a shot before it got dark. In the winter, I took pictures in the morning. When I was away from home, my partner Stu would take the pictures for me." Now that's dedication! Check out the finished product:

So what can we expect from this new and improved section of the park? KQED News' Tiffany Camhi reports that we'll get to enjoy everything from new tennis and basketball courts to free Wi-Fi to upgraded bathrooms (27 stalls, up from the previous four). So much to celebrate and so much new grass to do that on. See y'all out there!
