While here in the Bay October is mainly about finally getting to wear shorts, in the rest of America the month clearly belongs to Miley Cyrus. Last week it was her feud/maybe not feud with Sinead O'Connor, which was maybe not her finest moment but got her plenty of attention and reminded us all that it is still popular to scold Miley. Also last week, kind of overshadowed by the Sinead thing, MTV released their documentary on her RIGHT THIS INSTANT called Miley: The MovementOn Saturday she was the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live and, I hate to say this because I LOVE Tina Fey, but Miley's episode was far superior in terms of laughs and music to Tina Fey's last week. Then on Sunday The New York Times finally said what I've been saying all along: let Miley live!

Who knows what the rest of the month holds for young Miley, though I am pretty much 100% sure that Halloween will be dominated by Miley costumes (I'm going as a wrecking ball and/or a pink teddy bear). But to get you ready for whatever happens next, here are some of my favorite Miley links from the first week of October. Let go of your hate and just enjoy it. Miley for President!

Get Back, and Just Let Miley Cyrus Grow UpEnough already. Enough with the nose-in-the-air repudiations and the false moral panics. Enough of the finger pointing and the slut shaming. Enough with the using of Miley Cyrus as a punching bag.
