SF Sketchfest is back! Last year, we learned a lot at the Party Down reunion and the Nerdist podcast and almost bruised ribs from laughing so hard at the epic closing weekend. And, judging from this year's line-up, we're in for even more life lessons and laugh-induced injuries. Here are the top five must-see events:
1. Maya Rudolph's Prince Cover Band, Princess
I would die 4 a chance 2 see Maya Rudolph and singer-songwriter Gretchen Lieberum's Prince cover band, Princess. Thankfully, it's not as serious as life and death, as they will be playing the Mezzanine on February 9. We already know Maya has a great set of pipes from that National Anthem SNL sketch and that Prince is the best songwriter ever, so what are you waiting for? Buy those tickets so we can party like it's 1999 (before you had all these pesky adult responsibilities).
2. Jenny Slate and Friends / Big Terrific
If you don't know Jenny Slate by name, you know her as the new SNL castmember that dropped an F bomb during her first show or, more importantly, as the mastermind and voice behind Marcel the Shell (guess why I smile a lot...cause it's worth it)! Last year, she had to cancel her SF Sketchfest gig at the last minute so this year she is pulling double duty to make up for it with a show with some friends on January 24 and as part of Big Terrific on January 25, both at Cobb's.
