Kaiser Enrolls Youth in Sacramento and Santa Clara for Vaccine Study
Kaiser says it’s enrolling 12 to 15 year olds in Sacramento and Santa Clara in an expanded late-stage study of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine. Pfizer has said the vaccine is safe and 95 percent effective in adults. Now researchers want to determine how well it will work in adolescents and teenagers.
California NAACP Leader Steps Down After Conflict of Interest Claims
Alice Huffman, the longtime leader of the California NAACP, has announced she will step down from her position. This comes after growing conflict of interest allegations against her. In her resignation letter to the NAACP’s state executive board, Huffman, who’s 84, cited health reasons for stepping down.
Inside the COVID-19 Outbreak at Avenal State Prison
More than 3,300 inmates and staff have tested positive for the virus at Avenal State Prison, the highest total of any prison in California. The union that represents guards confirms picking up shifts in different buildings is part of its contract with the state prison system.

Prison Inmates to Connect with Family Through Video Visitation Links
Incarcerated people at five state prisons, including San Quentin, will soon be able to see and talk to their families through video visitation links. Each eligible inmate will receive up to a thirty minute video visit every month.
