Still No Downtime for Butte County Sheriff, A Month After Camp Fire
It’s been four weeks since the deadly Camp Fire swept through parts of Butte County. For many survivors of the blaze, that’s meant a month of staying in shelters, hotels or tents and waiting for the next update on the number of people missing or dead. For Butte County’s Sheriff, there’s been no down time.

San Bernardino Land Sale Considered to Swiss Mining Company
Global mining company OMYA is looking to buy 70 acres of environmentally sensitive land that is full of minerals. The U.S. Department of the Interior is considering selling the land even though OMYA once trespassed and illegally dumped on this same public land.

Federal Judge Requests Information from California Attorney General on Possible Criminal Case Related to Camp Fire Against PG&E
The federal judge overseeing a PG&E probation agreement is asking the California attorney general whether the utility might be held criminally liable in the wake of the deadly Camp Fire in Butte County. At least 85 people died in the fire and another 6 remain unaccounted for.

L.A. Achdiocese Updates List of Priests Accused of Sexually Abusing Children
The Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles updated its list of priests accused of sexually abusing children Thursday, including one incident that happened as recently as last year. It's the first time in 10 years that the Archdiocese has updated its list.

Nevada Researchers Find Cause of Deadly Carr Fire Tornado
In late July, the Carr Fire exploded into the outskirts of Redding. It was a rare "fire tornado." Researchers at the University of Nevada said they have been able to pinpoint how this vortex formed and grew so quickly.

Crab Fishing Finally Set to Start in Sonoma
After a more than a three-week delay, Dungeness crab fishermen off the Sonoma coast will begin casting nets on December 8. Delays have plagued California's commercial crab season in recent years, and fishermen want the fossil fuel industry to compensate them for their losses.
