Northern California ICE Raids
This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested more than 200 undocumented immigrants in the Bay Area and Northern California, sparking protest outside the ICE field office in San Francisco. Shortly before the raids, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf gave a controversial warning to the public about an imminent ICE operation, saying she did it to protect residents. A top ICE official criticized the mayor for a “reckless decision” that he said helped suspects flee and put immigration agents at risk.
