Thomas Fire Threatens Downtown Ventura

For the residents of Ventura, the early hours of Tuesday morning were the most terrifying. After scorching thousands of acres of rural land, the Thomas Fire began to spill south, and nearly burned into the downtown core of the city. Firefighters were dealt a stroke of good and bad luck during their efforts.

When it comes to wildfire alerts, you've probably heard of a "red alert." San Diego is on already high alert as Santa Ana wind conditions and critical humidity levels have raised the risk for wildfires. But the National Weather Service is warning of much more dangerous conditions by Thursday.

Autopsy Doctor Resigns, Says San Joaquin Sheriff Overrode Death Findings to Protect Law Enforcement

We head back to San Joaquin County today where the chief forensic pathologist, Dr. Bennet Omalu, has resigned his post, saying he can no longer work in a place where the sheriff interferes with death investigations. Among the allegations -- that the Sheriff-Coroner shielded law enforcement officers who may have killed people.
