Multiple wildfires are raging in Southern California. The blazes are driven by strong Santa Ana winds and have destroyed scores of homes.

The largest fire forced thousands to evacuate as it swept into the beach town of Ventura. Fires are also burning near Sylmar and in Santa Clarita.

Fast-moving wildfires sweeping into neighborhoods are all too reminiscent of the disastrous October fires in Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties.
