Autopsy Doctor Quits, Alleges Sheriff Interfered in Death Probes

A physician who conducts autopsies for San Joaquin County resigned Monday claiming she was denied the autonomy to do her job. In the resignation letter, obtained by KQED, the forensic pathologist wrote that Sheriff Steve Moore has intruded on the physician’s independence, and she raised doubts about the integrity of death investigations in the county.

Hearings to Focus on ‘Pervasive’ Climate of Sexual Harassment in Sacramento

Allegations of sexual harassment continue to shake the state Capitol. Yesterday Southern California Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra announced his immediate resignation after several women accused him of unwanted kissing and groping. Bocanegra says he hasn’t committed any crimes. In addition, the Senate Rules Committee stripped Los Angeles County Senator Tony Mendoza of his leadership positions pending an investigation into several harassment claims against him.
