Defendant’s Intent Debated as Steinle Murder Trial Closes

Both sides gave closing arguments Monday in the murder trial of Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, after nearly a month of testimony in the high-profile case that has been cited by conservative politicians and pundits as an example of violence committed by undocumented immigrants under the protection of so-called sanctuary cities like San Francisco.

Following Harassment Allegations, Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra Won't Run Again 

Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra has resigned as Majority Whip and has announced that he will resign his seat at the end of this session, after the LA Times reported more allegations of groping against the San Fernando Valley Asssemblyman. Assembly Women's Caucus chair Cristina Garcia is calling on her colleague to resign immediately.

Seniors Struggle to Recover from North Bay Fires

At least 43 people died in the wildfires that swept through northern California in October. Most of them were over the age of 60.  And seniors who survived the fires are having trouble recovering from the trauma and loss.
