State officials now have less than six months to craft new rules for everything from the sale to distribution of recreational cannabis. We spoke with Lori Ajax, who is leading the state’s efforts to regulate the multibillion-dollar cannabis industry.

Fighting chronic homelessness

A local nonprofit, Tipping Point Community, has pledged to raise $100 million through private donations to cut San Francisco’s chronically homeless population in half in five years. But the city already spends more than $200 million annually on support services for the homeless. We talk to CEO Daniel Lurie about why he thinks this new public-private partnership will succeed in getting people off the streets.
