Driving down Highway 1 along the Big Sur coast just got even more difficult after a huge landslide. If the road along one of the most beautiful stretches of California coastline could get any more closed, it just did.
Picture 1 million tons of rocks and dirt on the road, and you'll have an idea. Check out Dan Brekke's post, including an aerial video.
Full disclosure: in February, I walked along a closed portion of Highway 1 in Big Sur and now have an even bigger appreciation for just how amazing it is that the road even stays on the side of the cliffs at all.
