YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — A woman has been killed by a falling ponderosa pine tree at Half Dome Village in Yosemite National Park, officials said.
The accident happened Sunday in the area formerly known as Curry Village, park spokesman Scott Gediman told Sacramento television station KCRA.
The victim, Destiny Rose Texeira Borges of Ceres (Stanislaus County), had been in Yosemite working for a company contracted by the park concessioner amid heavy snow and high winds sweeping through the area over the weekend.
Rangers closed the village and had visitors leave the area after the accident, Gediman said. The area was reopened Monday.
