This past November, Ro Khanna defeated fellow Democrat Mike Honda to win a seat in Congress representing District 17, which includes Silicon Valley. A  son of immigrants himself, he recently spoke out against Donald Trump's executive order banning refugees and immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim nations. He talked with KQED's Scott Shafer via  Skype to share his thoughts on the ban and a novel program he supports to bring high-tech job skills to an economically depressed region of the country.
