President Trump is repeating false claims about the popular vote in the November election. The final vote count showed that Democrat Hillary Clinton received nearly 3 million more votes than Trump, who won the presidency by virtue of narrow victories in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Trump has insisted, without citing any evidence, that he would have beaten Clinton in the popular tally, too, except for the participation of millions of undocumented immigrants who voted for Clinton.
Among those not buying Trump's claim: Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin. Ryan told The Associated Press, "I've already commented on that. I've seen no evidence to that effect."
Another Republican, Pennsylvania Rep. Charlie Dent, said Trump needs to move on. "The election is over," Dent said, and Trump "won fair and square." Trump needs to "get to the serious business of governing," Dent said.
