The 2016 election is just four weeks away. In an effort to avoid long lines at the polls, all nine Bay Area counties will offer early-voting options for all registered voters. Election Day is Nov. 8 and the final day to register to vote in California is Oct. 24.

There are three ways California residents can vote before Election Day: Vote-by-mail ballots are mailed to voters, who can mail back the ballot or drop it off at a polling place on Election Day. This is not to be confused with absentee voting, where the voter is unable to be present at the polls, and the ballot is completed and mailed in advance of an election. California offers "no-excuse" absentee voting, allowing registered voters to request an absentee ballot without requiring they state a reason for their desire to vote absentee.

Early voting allows voters to visit an election official’s office or other satellite voting locations, and cast a vote in person without offering a reason for why the voter is unable to vote on Election Day. All first-time voters must bring a government-issued ID. We have compiled all the locations, dates and times voters can cast their ballots prior to Election Day.

Jump to your county: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma.

Or check your registration status and find your polling place online.
