S.F. Police Chief Resigns
San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr stepped down Thursday, just hours after the shooting death of a black woman by a San Francisco police officer in the Bayview district. It was the third officer-involved killing since December and came amid growing calls for Suhr's resignation. Toney Chaplin, a 26-year veteran of the department, has been named acting police chief. KQED's Alex Emslie gives an update.

CA GOP Rebranding
The Republican Party in California hasn't won a statewide election since 2006. With the presidential primary just over two weeks away, some Republicans say having Donald Trump at the top of the ballot is affecting the GOP's efforts to broaden its appeal in California. KQED Senior Politics and Government Editor Scott Shafer reports.

Sonoma County Jail Mental Health Services
A troubling new report released this week by Disability Rights California details a pattern of neglect and inadequate care of mentally ill inmates at Sonoma County's main jail. KQED reporters Lisa Pickoff-White and Julie Small discuss this report as well as their own investigation of the jail.This segment was produced as a project for the California Data Fellowship, a program of the Center for Health Journalism at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
