San Francisco police released these sketches of two people described as suspects in the fatal February stabbing of a man near Post and Franklin streets. (San Francisco Police Department)

San Francisco police have released sketches of two suspects in a February street robbery in which the victim, a British citizen who had relocated to Southern California, was fatally stabbed.

Police said a man and a woman attacked Paul Tam, 48, and his niece at about 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 18 as they walked on Post Street near Franklin.

A video of the encounter released after Tam died in March shows the male suspect chasing Tam into the path of an oncoming car. The vehicle slowed to a stop as Tam struggled with his assailant, who apparently pushed him to the pavement behind the stopped car.

Police say the male suspect stabbed Tam in the head and took his bag, which reportedly contained cash, credit cards, mobile phone and passport. The male assailant and his companion then fled the area on foot.

  • Black adult male approximately 5’10” with a heavy build last seen wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans.
  • Black/mixed race adult female approximately 5’4”, small build with dreadlocks or braids.
