Legislature Approves $15 Minimum Wage, Brown Says He'll Sign It
The California Senate gave its final approval to eventually raise the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour, making it the highest in the nation. The Assembly passed the bill earlier in the day, and Gov. Jerry Brown is expected to sign it into law on Monday. With the threat of a November ballot measure to raise the minimum wage looming, this agreement came together and passed both houses in less than a week.

California's Last Institutions for Developmentally Disabled to be Closed
California is planning to close its large institutions for the developmentally disabled. Over the past two decades, the state has been slowing closing them and moving developmentally disabled residents into smaller facilities. Today, the State Department of Developmental Services is submitting a proposal to lawmakers detailing the final step for the closures.
