San Francisco Homeless
San Francisco officials are moving to vacate the tent encampments that have grown for months along Division Street in San Francisco. The tents have become a target of complaints from neighbors and businesses and a public relations dilemma for Mayor Ed Lee. KQED's Stephanie Martin Taylor gives an update on the situation.

Santa Clara County Jails Report
Alarming findings from a new report on Santa Clara County's troubled jails include widespread inmate complaints of excessive force, filthy living conditions and inadequate medical care. The analysis found that a broken grievance system is allowing complaints to be hidden or ignored. The report was conducted at the direction of a blue ribbon commission formed to help improve the county's jails. Retired judge LaDoris Cordell heads the commission and joins Thuy Vu to talk about the report's findings.

California Politics
California Democrats kick off their statewide convention today in San Jose. It's expected to set the stage for key races, including the contest to replace longtime U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is retiring. Scoff Shafer, senior editor for KQED's California Politics and Government Desk, joins Thuy Vu to talk about the convention and other top political stories.

New Rules for Dogs
This week the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) proposed new rules for walking dogs off-leash at popular sites such as Fort Funston and Crissy Field in San Francisco. The rules would limit where dogs can run freely within the park's 80,000 acres. Dog owners are crying foul, while environmentalists see the restrictions as necessary to protect wildlife and sensitive habitats. GGNRA Superintendent Christine Lehnertz joins Thuy Vu to talk about a controversy that has been brewing for more than a decade.
