This is not news. Consider it a public service announcement for sports agnostics and casual sports fans alike — the Golden State Warriors are a historic team worth paying attention to.

If last year’s championship season wasn’t enough to vault the Warriors into the conversation of “Best Teams of All Time,” their 10-0 start to this season should leave little doubt.

In addition to the 10-game winning streak, the Dubs lead the league in scoring (114.8 PPG) and point differential (+17.1 PPG). They’ve beaten five teams with winning records and have won five games on the road. It’s hard to believe, but this Warriors team looks even better than last year’s — in every facet of the game.

They are just the fourth defending champion to open a season with at least 10 wins. According to FiveThirtyEight’s Elo ratings, “no team in NBA history has looked so good 10 games into a season.” No. Team. In. NBA. History. Amazing.

Next, the Warriors have their sights set on two historic teams: 1993-94 Houston Rockets and the 1948-1949 Washington Capitals. Both teams are tied with the longest winning streak to open a season — 15-0.

ESPN’s Basketball Power Index gives the Warriors a 29 percent chance to become the first NBA team to win its first 16 games.

Yes, it's early. But talk of the record-setting 72-win '95-'96 Chicago Bulls does not seem ridciulous. "We want to be at the best we can be, and if that's 72, 73 wins, then so be it," Stephen Curry told the San Jose Mercury News.

Perhaps most remarkable, all of this has been done without head coach Steve Kerr, who remains away from the team as he continues to heal from offseason back surgery. Either interim coach Luke Walton is the next Red Auerbach, or the Warriors are a well-oiled machine that requires very little coaching to steamroll their competition.

Including a four-game win streak to close out the 2014-2015 regular season, the team has now won 14 straight regular-season games.

You can’t talk about the Warriors’ dominance without talking about reigning MVP Stephen Curry. Through 10 games, Curry has removed any doubt that he is the best in the world. His league-leading 33.3 points per game, more than 4 PPG higher than second-leading scorer James Harden, does not begin to describe his dominance.

We’ll let the numbers speak for themselves:

-- Curry has FOUR 20-point QUARTERS this season, through 10 games. Russell Westrook led the league with four, ALL OF LAST SEASON.

-- His 52 three-pointers so far this season are more than three TEAMS have made ALL SEASON.

-- He is on pace to make 426 threes this season, which would shatter his old record of 286, which he set last season. (CBS Sports)

-- According to Elias, Curry’s 333 points so far this season are the most points in NBA history by a player whose team started 10-0. Michael Jordan scored 288 in 1996-96.

-- This ESPN graphic speaks for itself.

-- Steph is just two three-pointers shy of matching his dad's career mark of 1,245 three-pointers. Dell Curry played 1,083 career games. Steph has logged just 426. Watch out, Pops.

Again, 10 games does not a season make. One championship does not a dynasty make. But the fact remains, this player and this team are special. Fans wait a lifetime for a team like this. Bay Area sports fans should tune in and enjoy history in the making.
