The union that represents faculty members, counselors, librarians and coaches at the 23 California State University campuses has voted to authorize a strike if contract negotiations fail.
Results released Wednesday follow a 10-day strike authorization vote held online and in person. It is at least the fourth vote that the California Faculty Association has held in eight years.
The union, which represents 25,000 university employees, and the Cal State system have been negotiating since May on the size of the pay raises that union members will get this school year.
The faculty association is seeking a 5 percent salary increase, along with a 2.7 percent pay bump based on years of service. The university is offering raises of 2 percent.
