San Francisco supervisors David Chiu and David Campos faced off on Forum today. The city leaders are in a tight race to win the right to represent District 17 in the state Assembly.

The exchange, while polite, featured lots of tension and jabs between the two candidates. They answered questions on everything from affordable housing to governing styles to the video of a recent conflict over the use of a soccer field at a Mission District playground.

Listen to both candidates' take on affordability and the soccer video below:

Perhaps the issue that elicited the most passion from listeners was the 2012 vote on whether to remove Ross Mirkarimi as sheriff. (Former Supervisor Mirkarimi pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of false imprisonment after a dispute with his wife. It almost cost him the office right after he was elected.) Chiu voted to oust Mirkarimi, while Campos voted to keep him in office. That vote has been the subject of several David Chiu campaign mailers, which link Campos to domestic violence.

A caller during the show, who identified herself as a victim of domestic violence, pleaded with Chiu to tell his campaign to stop politicizing the issue. Chiu defended his campaign, saying that the Mirkarimi vote demonstrates a difference of "values" between him and Campos.
