With all due respect to San Jose and to hot dogs, just what the hell is going on over there that the top 2 finishers in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest this year and last are both from California's third-largest city?
San Jose is fast becoming the competitive hot dog-eating capital of the world after hometown hero Joey Chestnut took his eighth straight today, scarfing down 61 franks (and buns, don't forget the buns), outpacing second place finisher and fellow San Josean Matt Stonie, who could only manage to cram down 56.
You can see highlights, as well as Joey proposing to his girlfriend, Neslie Ricasa, in the ESPN video below. She is also a competitive eater, which should make the wedding reception tremendously exciting.
