Federal officials with the Energy Information Administration are reportedly downgrading their estimate of how much oil could be pumped out of the Monterey Formation. Just a few years ago, the agency projected that oil companies could retrieve 15 billion barrels of oil. Now, it’s down to 600 million. The Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) is one of serveral non-profits that received a grant from a UC Berkeley fund. The program will now be able to offer competitive sports to Cal students with disabilities. The Chancellor’s Community Partnership Fund, which aims to strengthen the campus’ support of the Berkeley community, is awarding $202,264 this year to 11 projects focused on education, arts, math and sciences, economic development, and community safety. While it is estimated that California's drought will have a $1.67 billion impact, a major issuer of ratings for public agency bonds says so far it hasn't made a “material adverse impact” on state or local governments, and it’s not expected to adversely affect their credit.
