NBA Players Seek Swift Response to Racist Remarks
On Tuesday, the L.A. Clippers host the Golden State Warriors in Los Angeles. Before then, the National Basketball Association is expected to do something about racist remarks attributed to Clippers' owner Donald Sterling. The purported remarks were recorded and posted to celebrity gossip site TMZ. Players league-wide, past and present, are furious. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, an adviser to the National Basketball Players Association, will advise the NBA.

Elder Care Facilities Face Regulatory Overhaul
A dozen bills moving through the state Legislature would dramatically overhaul the way California regulates elder care facilities. Last October, 19 frail seniors were abandoned at Valley Springs Manor in Castro Valley after the state's Department of Social Services ordered the facility closed without making sure residents had new places to live.
