Romo Ice Cream

What's the deal with Giants' relievers? A couple of years ago, every other post we did was about Brian Wilson. (OK, our bad, but you really had to be there.) Now his successor, Sergio Romo, is getting his Web due. To wit, yesterday Petaluma-based Three Twins Ice Cream announced it had signed a contract with Romo "to bring Sergio Romo's Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream (it only tastes illegal) to the world!!!!" Company founder Neal Gottlieb told us the inspiration hit him after Romo wore his now-famous shirt at last year's Giants World Series parade.

Gottlieb said there have been some negative comments about the tagline on the company's Facebook page, which you can see here, but that he looks at it as "continuing the conversation" that Romo started.

The company says you'll be able to start slurping on Sergio Romo's Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream, which contains cocoa with cinnamon powder, around September, right around the time Romo will be in the midst of the pennant race, hopefully.

Romo, who is a first-generation Mexican-American, recently appeared in a video for The Dream is Now campaign, which describes itself as "an effort of concerned citizens who believe we need to fix America’s broken immigration system, giving undocumented youth and their families the chance to earn their citizenship."
