Teamsters Local 315 also has stopped work, according to the national Teamsters Union press release, but a supervisor at West County Resource Recovery Recycling Center said service has not been disrupted — yet.

"Today, for the most part, everything went quite well," said supervisor Shawn Moberg. "Tomorrow could be a different story. There could be some delay in service."

He said even if there is a weekday work stoppage, service would occur Saturday.

Teamsters Local 70 workers at Republic Services' Fremont hauling yard also have stopped work, resulting in delays to garbage pickup in Fremont and Union City. A statement on a Republic Services website said pickups will occur "no later than your next service day."

Picket Lines Extended to California

Memphis-area Teamsters employed by Republic Services/Allied Waste went on strike April 16 to protest unfair labor practices, according to a press release.

The company unilaterally imposed pay cuts totaling as much as $200 a week on commercial and recycling drivers, according to the press release.

This week the Teamsters extended picket lines to Republic Services' facilities in several cities in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Washington and California.
