The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments today in a case challenging California's ban on same-sex marriage. Attorneys fighting the constitutionality of the law say marriage is a fundamental right and denying it because of sexual orientation violates the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. Prop. 8 supporters say the will of the state's voters should not be invalidated by the courts.
