Petaluma Wins, Advances at Little League World Series

Update 6:45 p.m. Petaluma beats Fairfield 5-0 behind 13-year-old shortstop Hance Smith's three-run homer and the shutout pitching of Quinton Gago and Andrew White.

Here's the box score and a report from the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

The team is now 3-1 in the tournament, with its next game scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. Their opponent will be either San Antonio or Goodlettsville, Tenn., which has already beat Petaluma  9-6.

Uganda -- that's right, Uganda -- also won a consolation game today.

Tonight at 5 p.m. PST, the Petaluma National all-stars face a team from Fairfield, Conn. at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

It's an elimination game, so one of the teams will be packing their bags later this afternoon.

On Monday, Petaluma beat a team from Parsippany, N.J. 5-4 in extra innings.

On Sunday, Petaluma lost to a team from Tennessee 9-6.
