Anaheim Debates Change in Wake of Shootings, Protests
The Anaheim City Council met in a special closed session Thursday to address a number of contentious issues, including how to respond to public unrest following a couple of officer-involved fatal shootings. There was a lively public comment period before the closed session.

Focus of Mars Exploration Shifts Away from Humans
According to NASA's web site, Curiosity is still on course to reach Mars Sunday night. When it bursts through the atmosphere, a bunch of scientists at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena will be ready to burst into joyous applause, presuming everything goes well. Curiosity is a complicated, expensive project, although not quite as complicated and expensive as trying to land humans on the red planet.
