State Will Charge Homeowners for Fire Prevention
Approximately 800,000 rural homeowners across the state will find a new bill in their mailboxes soon. It's a fee meant to offset fire protection costs, and it comes at a time of deep budget cuts for the state's firefighting agency, CAL FIRE.
