After Years of Controversy, Power Line Finally Open
Gov. Jerry Brown and former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger officially dedicated the Sunrise Powerlink yesterday in San Diego County. The transmission line funnels electricity into a region that's lost what the San Onofre nuclear power plant used to provide. But it's still controversial in the rural areas it traverses.

Donating to Campaigns Via Text? Not This Year
Last month, the Federal Elections Commission cleared the way for political campaigns to collect small contributions from mobile phone users through text messages. Both presidential campaigns applauded, and advocates hope it will increase participation in the process. But phone companies have not been so quick to sign on.
