Did you know that 39 percent of Americans competing in the 2012 Olympics consider California to be their home state or currently reside here?

Some more numbers:

  • 177 athletes currently reside in California
  • 125 consider their hometown in-state
  • 32 are part of the University of California system
  • 27 attend or attended Stanford
  • 15 attend or attended UC Berkeley

Many of the more than 200 California-connected athletes are using Twitter, Instagram and other social networks to share their experiences in London.
