The San Jose Mercury News is reporting on a presumed murder-suicide involving a San Jose police officer.

A San Jose police sergeant and his wife were found dead in their Gilroy home overnight, and investigators believe it was a murder-suicide, multiple sources told this newspaper.

Neither San Jose police or Gilroy police would not immediately comment on the reports.

Sources identify the officer as Christopher Shimek, a veteran officer. He and his wife, Lynn, lived in Gilroy with two children, who were not injured.

Devon Shimek, Christopher Shimek's father, reached by phone in Oregon on Monday morning, didn't have much to say.

"I heard he's dead," the elder Shimek said. "I didn't know he had any troubles. I don't know what happened."
