The San Francisco Board of Supervisors by a vote of 8-3 passed a non-binding resolution (pdf) today “supporting Occupy SF demonstrators’ right to set up a full-functioning encampment without the threat of a police shutdown,” as the Chronicle characterizes it.
Supervisors Carmen Chu, Sean Elsbernd, and Mark Farrell were the votes against. Mayor Ed Lee has said he isn’t sure whether he will sign the measure.
Meanwhile, Lee and supervisors John Avalos and Jane Kim met today with an Occupy San Francisco contingent at City Hall. A member of Occupy San Francisco recorded video of the meeting, in which Lee assures the group that the police have not infiltrated their encampment and that police will not act against the protest without his approval.
At one point, Lee also says that if members of Occupy San Francisco want to go over to participate in the general strike called by Occupy Oakland tomorrow, they shouldn’t worry about the camp being raided in their absence.
