Also today, from Bay City News:

The wing-sailed catamaran that will be featured in the America's Cup sailing race in 2013 will test the waters on the San Francisco Bay this afternoon, race organizers said.

For the only time this year, the AC45 wing-sailed catamaran will sail in San Francisco at 1 p.m., organizers said.

The 45-foot boats, which are owned by Oracle Racing, can reach speeds of up to 30 knots, or about 35 mph.

Mayor Ed Lee will attend the boats debut at the Golden Gate Yacht Club, located at 1 Yacht Road in the Marina.

Lee will welcome the competitors of the 34th America's Cup to San Francisco on Wednesday morning, organizers said.

San Francisco is the site of the first America's Cup World Series events in 2012 and home to the home to the America's Cup Challenger Series in July 2013 and the America's Cup Finals in September 2013.

The America's Cup tweeted this photo of one of the catamarans pulling into the Golden Gate Yacht Club this morning:
