A couple of weeks ago the Giants said they were going to create an “It Gets Better Video,” partly in response to an online petition by a fan. That video is now out, with Matt Cain, Barry Zito, Sergio Romo, Andres Torres, and batting coach Hensley Meulens all making an appearance.

It Gets Better is the brainchild of columnist Dan Savage and his partner, who last year in the midst of a series of tragedies involving harassed LGBT teenagers, created a YouTube video recounting their own experiences being bullied as gay teens, and offering hope to those currently suffering.

The video became the genesis of a major anti-harassment campaign in which people posted their own messages of encouragement. Politicians such as Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and even President Obama have submitted videos, and a Google ad highlighting the project has been airing on TV. The Giants are the first pro sports team to take part.
