Update 4:55 p.m. It's been a rough day on MUNI as a derailment at the Castro Street station slowed things down. MUNI reported at 4:45 p.m. that the incident has been cleared, but that "bus shuttles between West Portal and Castro stations will remain in place through the evening rush."

Update 9:45 a.m. From KRON

Muni officials hope to have all service restored on the metro system by the afternoon commute after a train derailed Friday morning near the Castro Street station.

John Haley with Muni tells KRON 4's Will Tran the train derailed less than 100 feet after leaving its stop at the Castro station at about 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Shuttle buses are running between Castro and West Portal. Many of the shuttles are full forcing riders to wait for a second bus to come through.
