Yesterday, Caltrans began hoisting the third of four pieces that will form the legs of the Bay Bridge’s new East Span tower.

From the Bay Bridge site: time-lapse video of yesterday’s operation and a really neato slideshow about the process of building a self-anchored suspension bridge.


And KTVU has some helicopter video of the tower segment being placed in position.
