UPDATE 11:53 a.m. Alameda Registrar spokesman Guy Ashley told me over the phone that they are down to a few hundred provisional ballots left to count in Oakland. He called the verification of those remaining "excruciatingly slow" because not only do they have to check on whether voters are actually registered at the proper address, but they also have representatives of the contending campaigns watching over the process, slowing things up.

11:30 a.m. KQED's Tara Siler just received an update of sorts on the Oakland mayoral vote from a spokesman for the Alameda Registrar. Guy Ashley said that the vote count was in the "home stretch," entailing the scrutiny of the final few provisional ballots. Ashley said the registrar is "not promising" a release of the final vote count today.
