  • Fog City Journal on Friday quoted former San Francisco supervisor Tony Hall as stating he intends to run for mayor in 2011.
  • Hall joins termed out Supervisor Bevan Dufty and City Attorney Dennis Herrera as the only electeds so far to have declared candidacies for the open seat. State Senators Leland Yee and Mark Leno; District Attorney Kamala Harris; Supervisors Ross Mirkarimi and Michela Alioto-Pier; and former Board of Supervisors President Matt Gonzalez; are also rumored to be considering mayoral candidacies.

The post includes Hall's somewhat checkered history as a supervisor, city official, and Newsom antagonist. Hall challenged Newsom's re-election in 2007 but dropped out of the race a few months before the election.

  • Oakland Focus doesn't like the media's whittling down of the city's mayoral race to four main candidates--Rebecca Kaplan, Jean Quan, Don Perata, and Joe Tuman-- when there are actually 10 who are running for office.

  • Haighteration reminds us that today is the last day to register to vote.

(Y)ou can swing by your local library, DMV, post office, or other government office and pick up a voter registration card. Or you can download one here, print it out, and mail it in.

No, your calendar’s not broken — it’s 2010, but you still can’t register to vote online. The good news is that your registration card just needs to be postmarked by today, not received. So get it in the mail today and you should be OK.

But don’t pat yourself on the back just yet — you still have a 189-page voter guide to read up on, a polling place to locate, and two more weeks of campaign ads to ignore.

  • Another Berkeley mountain lion siting, according to Berkeleyside, this one in the Park Hills neighborhood.
