Sacramento police arrested a second suspect in association with the mass shooting that killed six people and confirmed he is the brother of the first suspect, Dandre Martin. The suspect's brother, Smiley Martin, 27, was arrested while being hospitalized for injuries sustained from the gunfire.
According to a police statement, Martin will be booked for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a machine gun when his health condition improves enough to be jailed.
Police booked Dandre Martin, 26, on Monday as a “related suspect" on assault and illegal firearms charges. In addition to the six victims who lost their lives over the weekend, a dozen others were wounded along with Smiley Martin, as at least two shooters fired more than 100 rounds, sending people running for safety. Detectives and SWAT team members found one handgun during searches of three homes in the area.
Earlier on Monday, the Sacramento County coroner identified the three women who were killed as Johntaya Alexander, 21; Melinda Davis, 57; and Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21. The three male victims were identified as Sergio Harris, 38; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; and Devazia Turner, 29.
