PG&E shutoffs are back. Power outages due to rolling blackouts are occurring across the state due to heat.

If you're wondering where power outages are happening — or want to know if you might be affected by an upcoming shutoff — these power outage maps show where electricity has been shut off by either California grid operators or utility companies like PG&E, and how many customers are being affected.
Why are outages happening? The shutoffs are a result of either:

  • Rolling blackouts ordered by the California Independent System Operator (California ISO) to conserve electricity and keep the state's power grid from becoming overloaded when demand exceeds supply, or
  • Because of so-called Public Safety Power Shutoff events, which are initiated by utilities to reduce the risk of wildfires sparked by electrical equipment when fire risk is high.

Use the maps, or use the search bar in the top right corner of the maps to search by address.

Outage data and Public Safety Power Shutoff area data are distributed by the California Department of Emergency Services and updates every 15 minutes, or as the feed is available.

Note: These maps also include power outages not as a result of planned shutoffs or rolling blackouts.

To report an outage, please contact PG&E.
