After months of counseling caution and fending off more liberal Democrats, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump on Tuesday.

Saying "no one is above the law," Pelosi put her stamp of approval on an impeachment inquiry after news broke that the president reportedly withheld aid and pressured the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

Politically savvy Pelosi has been watching public opinion polls about impeachment a little too closely for my taste — I'm happy that constitutional duty may finally be taking precedence over electoral considerations.
