Yes, they're impossibly cute, but getting close to a seal pup for that perfect selfie could kill the little critter.

It's the time of year when harbor seals and northern elephant seal pups live on the beach for a couple of months after being born.

If humans or dogs get too close to the pups, the seal's mother will likely abandon the adorable little ball of fur and flippers, leaving it to die.
