Using design thinking to get teenagers to reimagine their learning environment, design firms and educators show kids how the process can help them make a difference in their neighborhoods, all the while giving them control over their own learning. “You need to challenge students because they will rise to the occasion,” says educator and designer Ange Wang in this Edutopia video.

  • This is something that has been on my mind and, for me, the connection between art and science needs to be clarified. It’s way beyond including an art piece in my science projects or having the art teacher include the science of how paints are made. Both of those are good starts.

    But the synergy of these ideas also has to be at the intersection of how designs are created…the intersection of the creativity process. I’m going to venture into the art world a bit at KC Design Week’s presentation for K12 teachers. #KCDW2014 and hope to find out much, much more.

    I’m targeting the chance to see how the engineering design process in my science classroom overlaps with the artist’s design process. What can I learn? Tons I’m hoping.
